Continuous, intuitive line: much like the energetic, continuous line a Graffiti artist uses to 'tag' their name, this gestural, continuous line renders figure and form in opposition to the artist's pseudonym in graffiti.
I was part of a very significant moment in Graffiti, during the shift from text-based renderings of the artists' names to Street Art renderings based on figure, form, and objecthood. For me, here in Canada, this movement was happening in the mid to late 1990s. In New York City, this was taking place in the early 1990s at Alleged Gallery via Aaron Rose's curatorial projects.
