NYC/MTA:YYC/LRT

Through objecthood, the LRT is a stand-in for the NYC subway system, the birthplace of Graffiti Art. Here is my ground zero for my explorations of public liminality. As an Urban Interventionalist I pay homage to my roots via a process of cross-pollination and cross-referencing of Graffiti’s aesthetic vehicles. Here I analyze the intrinsic cultural codes of my materials and artmaking processes. This emblematic object and site of transitory liminality for the public is rooted in the foundation of my research creation explorations. The interconnected, ethnically diverse, gender fluid, hybridized figures plasma torch cut into the window panels of the LRT, open a place for contemplation on our connections with one another. A place for everyone to enter is presented and a liminal space and experience is bestowed upon the viewer in the intricate play of shadows at night.
